Seal Beach
Bonfire pits, surfing, parking, restaurants and dining, and pier attractions

Seal BeachA person doesn't need to be an athlete or have the body of a surfer to fit in at Seal Beach. The small waves, large playground, and cozy setting attract families with young children. On the other end of the age spectrum, many Seal Beach visitors come from the nearby Leisure World retirement community. This is one beach where aSeal Beach Pier senior citizen can enjoy the ocean without feeling like the only older visitor. There's an old-fashioned wooden pier for walking out on or fishing. The pier is slightly over a quarter mile long and stays open 24 hours a day, making it a favorite for early bird fishermen.  The beach is open from 4:30 AM until 10:00 PM and is a perfect destination for all types of boarders, from surfers, to skim and body boarders; it also has many  campsites and bonfire pits, which can make for an entertaining evening.  For shoppers, there's an old-fashioned "main street," also know as Old Town Seal Beach, type shopping area across from the beach line with beautiful palm trees and shady picnic tables. The shops are less Seal Beachexpensive than in trendier areas but the quality of their products is still up with the best.  Parking is typically $2 but street parking is also available depending on how far you are willing to walk.  Seal Beach is located near the Pacific Coast Highway in northern Orange County, tucked in between Huntington Beach and Long Beach.
