San
Clemente has both state and city
beaches. Surfers prefer the north end of the one-mile stretch
of sand in the State Beach. Down
on the beach there are also picnic areas great for families or
parties.
Overlooking the beach above are the seaside bluffs with many trails
that end with beautiful views.
Some trails
lead down to the beach, which is also
popular for
body surfing, swimming,
and skin
diving. Parking
is typically about $1 and hour. For the business type, San
Clemente State Beach now offers Wi-Fi
Service through AT&T. This service
enables park visitors with wireless enabled laptop computers or Person
digital
assistants (PDAs) to access the Internet.
For most
people however, this isn't of too much value. What
is unique about San Clemente is its
campground.
There are designated campgrounds as well as RV stations for those
looking to spend the night. Reservations
for
camping
should be made in advance and can be made by calling (800)
444-7275. San Clemente beach is not as crowded as many other
beaches, making it ideal for surfing, skim boarding, body
boarding, and for the less active type who would just like a nice beach
to
lay out on.
