Disneyland,
the happiest place on earth, can be found in Anaheim surrounded by
countless resorts, both affiliated and non-affiliated with Disneyland.
For many years, Disneyland
has been the main attraction here in Orange County, and for good
reason. Disneyland Resort, based mostly off their films
directed
at a younger audience has split the park up into eight different areas,
directed at different age groups. Mainstreet, which is the
entrance to the park, is modeled after mainstreets throughout the US
with candy shops, antique stores, souvenir stands, ice-cream parlors,
and horse drawn trolleys.
Miceky's
Toontown, along with parts of Adventureland and Critter Country are
aimed at the toddler age, with tree houses, boat trips, shows, and
train rides. Frontierland, also aimed at a low age group, has
the
Mark Twain Riverboat regularly making trips to Tom Sawyer Island which
is essentially a giant playground with caves, tree houses, and rope
bridges. Fantasyland, aimed at slightly older children is
home to
a number of movie based rides, including, Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo
the Flying Elephant, King Arthur Carrousel, Mad Tea Party, Mr. Toad's
Wild Ride, Peter Pan's Flight, Pinocchio's Daring Journey, and Snow
White's Scary Adventures. Most of the roller coasters and
older
aged rides are scattered throughtout the park, with Indiana Jones'
Adventure in Adventureland, Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted
Mansion in New Orleans Square, Splash Mountain in Critter county, Big
Thunder Railroad in Frontierland, Star Tours and Space Mountain in
Tomorrowland, and Matterhorn Bobsleds in Fantasyland.
Disneyland admission tickets are sold by the day or multiple
days
and also offer Park Hopper tickets, which allow admission into both
Disneyland Resort and Disney's California Adventure. All
tickets
or annual passes are sold at kiosks located between California
Adventure and Disneyland, or you can purchase you Disneyland Tickets or Annual
Passes online.
Single day Disneyland tickets are $53 for children 3-9 and $63 for ages
10+, while single day Park Hopper tickets are $73 for children 3-9 and
$83 for ages 10+. Disneyland Resorts also offer the chance to plan your entire Disneyland trip from air
travel to Disneyland Resort Hotel reservations and even to Disneyland
tickets online. One of Disneylands main attractions
besides the rides and the parks is Downtown Disney.
Downtown Disney is located between both Disneyland and
California
Adventure and does not require purchasing a ticket to either of the two
parks. It is similar to an outside mall but the stores here
are
much more unique. Many of them obviously have the Disney
theme
but many others create an environment all of their own. Some of
the other
restaurants include ESPN Zone, Haagen-Dazs, House of Blues, Naples
Ristorante e Pizzeria, Rainforest Cafe, Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen,
Tortilla Jo's, Uva Bar, Wetzel's Pretzels, and Jamba Juice.
Some
of the retail outlets are Disney Vault 28, Anne Geddes, Basin,
Build-A-Bear Workshop, Compass Books, Club Libby Lu, Department 56,
Disney's Pin Traders, Fossil Illuminations, Island Charters, Quiksilver
Boardriders Club, Rainforest Retail Shopping Village, Sephora,
Something Silver, Starabilias, Sunglass Icon, The LEGO Imagination
Center, Travelex, and World of Disney.
